The Navarra D.O. is made up of five distinct zones which, thanks to their climatic and geographical diversity, produce a wide range of wines: robust reds, fresh whites, fruity rosés, and increasingly more organic and sustainable options. Each zone has its own character, its own pace, its own aroma. Many wineries offer comprehensive visits that include tours of the facilities, guided tastings, and paired menus in carefully curated surroundings. And if you would rather not drive, there are alternatives such as electric bike rentals and shared transport.
The first winery on our route is located just 15 kilometres from Pamplona: Bodega Otazu, located in the Señorío de Otazu estate. This winery, founded in the 19th century, is characterised by its respect for the environment and its magnificent setting surrounded by 12th-century buildings. You can sample its remarkable wines thanks to its extensive range of wine tourism activities. The winery features an exhibition of 150 works of contemporary art by renowned artists, and has successfully blended nature, history, and art within a truly privileged setting.
Tierra Estella: Wines with soul and a heritage that inspires
One of the most recommended routes heads west towards Tierra Estella, around 40 minutes from Pamplona. Here, wine intertwines with Romanesque art, gentle landscapes, and villages that preserve the soul of another era. Estella/Lizarra, with its historic centre of cobbled streets, is an excellent stop, as are the Iranzu Monastery and the Source of the Urederra River — natural gems that add beauty to the trip.

Towns like Puente la Reina, Obanos, and Mendigorría invite you to stroll at your leisure, enjoying the charm of their squares, their Romanesque churches, and their stories of pilgrimage and hospitality.
The wineries here maintain a long family tradition, and many are open to visits where the production process is shared in a close and unpretentious way. If we continue exploring Navarre, we find to the east the Baja Montaña and the Ribera Alta areas, with landscapes featuring gentle hills, vineyards, and quiet villages. Here, nature sets the pace. A must-see is Olite, with its fairytale castle and its Wine Museum. The town lives and breathes wine culture and is the perfect place to combine tourism, history, and gastronomy.
